Huge thanks to Jeff Goodman Consulting for supporting the Conservancy in a number of ways, including as a Corporate Partner at the Silver level. Corporate Partners support our mission and events year-round. jeffsagoodman.com
They’re both about meat, going low and slow, big breasts (turkey), small breasts (chicken), and getting hot and sweaty. But, I’ll stick with the BBQ.

We don’t need to flatten or dumb things down.
But we do need to help people navigate the experience.

That might mean explaining unfamiliar traditions.

Or welcoming different expressions of enthusiasm.

Or just making it easier to show up without feeling small.

A lot of new audience-building efforts focus on programming or promotions.
But the biggest barrier might be the experience itself.
If the first visit makes them feel out of place or underinformed, they won’t come back. No matter how good the art is.

Partnerships with Purpose — Jeff Goodman
www.jeffsagoodman.com
Whether you’re a nonprofit looking to expand your reach, or a business looking to lead with purpose, strategic partnerships rooted in shared values and goals can turn connection into real-world change.

Some organizations rise on their own. Most rise farther—and stronger—with partners.
When we align our values—and our efforts—something bigger happens. We serve the mission better. We amplify impact. We lift each other up.
𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐈𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐲: 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐬

In the nonprofit world, competition is often a necessity—especially for funding. But when our missions and values align, collaboration serves the greater good.We don’t all need to rise alone. And we don’t all benefit when others sink.
A true mission should move people.
It should show how the world is better because you exist.

If your mission reads like an elevator pitch, it’s time to rewrite it.

A mission statement isn’t just a description.
It’s a declaration—of purpose and impact.
But here’s where so many arts orgs get stuck:
They describe what they do... and stop there.
What’s missing is the why—and the impact of success.

That’s why your messaging—and your decisions—have to go deeper.

You can’t assume people just “get it.” You have to crack it open and show them.
The guts. The heart. The reason it matters.

But here’s the problem: most of the public hasn’t shared that experience. They haven’t seen what you’ve seen or felt what you’ve felt.

Trump on Powell: “I was surprised he was appointed” (Trump appointed him)
GOP gets their messages out simply in 3-4 words (Big Beautiful Bill, Make America Great Again). It's deceitful and oversimplifies complicated issues, but it resonates.

Democrats issue press releases and lean into nuance. And we lose.
Donald Trump and Senate Republicans have sent a clear message to the American people: Your kids, your job, and your elderly relatives don’t matter.
“When you know the notes to sing, you can sing most anything.”
Same goes for impact.

If people don’t understand the impact of your work, they won’t support it or sing its praises.

We're honored that the New York Times explored how the Conservancy serves as a "support group" for owners of Frank Lloyd Wright-designed homes. For every heroic save, there are countless hours of behind-the-scenes work & community-building. buff.ly/zhYe9VL
"What presidential endorsements actually do is create a perception of bias. A perception of non-independence. Ending them is a principled decision, and it’s the right one.” - Jeff Bezos (who apparently thinks bias only applies to presidential candidates)
That’s why he can say weird things like “I love God,” and people think he’s the Pope. His behavior hasn’t changed, but his followers believe what he wants them to believe reality is.
