but it really sucks when you’re in the crisis part.

Personally it feels much better not to be living UNDER it but I can’t help myself from following this deeply important stage of history, sadly as granularly as WIFI will allow.

As a filmmaker for television I have always been impressed with how 95% of the audience I have seen watch my stuff cannot focus on the screen for more than a few seconds at a time, they just can’t do it, they watch tv as one of many distractions in their daily routine.

That was late Bronze Age, 100’s of years before the Iron Age, when the tribes of Israel and Judah were conquered by the Assyrians and Babylonians.

A more reasonable timeframe might be 130 years with the advent of Zionism. Whatevs!

we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.

Less than half of WJT & NYT, smaller than the NYP & USA TODAY, for example.

They designed the electoral college largely to weed out wannabe dictators, to make it hard to elect a turd.

And always feared the great unwashed, if you let them vote, might fall for a demagogue. Don’t forget only white property owners could only vote at all! & not directly for president.

I remember this from 9/11.

You could smell downtown burning for miles, for many weeks .

Probably the memory most deeply seared into my consciousness from the entire experience.

(And it was an unholy smell, of things burning not meant to be burned, and death.)
