#77 – “The Riverbend”, Painting by @jeffdillonfineart, Original Size: 48″ x 36″

Far reaching visions from a brief clearing along a mountaintop trail. I painted this scene to capture the sense of awe that comes from looking out over a vast valley of mountains framed by tall, mature trees.

Thank you Gin, that’s such a wonderful way to describe it. I really appreciate how closely you looked at the details.
The great blue heron has a tall and slender figure that doesn’t initially volunteer its propensity for flight.

Who’s excited for Halloween? This piece always reminds me of that mysterious mix of beauty and unease that comes with the season.

#60 – “The Family Tree”, Painting by @jeffdillonfineart, Size: 60″ x 36″

This piece was inspired by a photo I captured while I was on a trip throughout the UK. I asked (begged) the tour bus to make a stop at this location so I could take a picture and eventually paint it. They actually did ☺

As a Canadian artist, I wanted to capture the feeling of standing before Peyto Lake in Alberta, that sense of untouched wilderness and the pull of nature’s vastness.

Please comment below your help is much appreciated. Thank you. #christmas
Deep gratitude for the life and legacy of Dr Jane Goodall. Her work reshaped our connection with nature. This chimpanzee’s likeness to us is what inspired the piece.

Thank you very much for following my page and my work ☺
That’s wonderful to hear. I like working with contrasts like yellow and grey, they can clash at times, but also open up unexpected harmony.
I appreciate that, Barbara. Birch trees have that presence, as if they’re quietly watching.
That’s a thoughtful way to put it, Rachel. The birch bark really does feel alive, almost watchful, and that’s part of what drew me to paint them.
Thank you, Chantal, I’m happy you enjoyed it.
I use heavy body acrylics from Golden. They let me layer and build intensity while still keeping movement in the work.
