A reminder that Israel has used the dead bodies of Palestinians as bargaining chips for decades.

Last year Mustafa Barghouti explained that Israel is holding over 500 bodies.

Israel is using the failure to return the bodies of hostages as a pretext to violate the ceasefire themselves, but as Nour Odeh points out, the ceasefire agreement did not contain a timeline for the handing over of the bodies & Israel already knew it might take weeks or months.

The Fraud serialisation, Part Three: the money keeps rolling in

Cash was flowing into Labour Together - but Morgan McSweeney failed to declare it.

Little wonder, when it was used to astroturf against Corbyn and the Canary...

Posts from those living through starvation in Gaza, showed produce with dollar price tags, at extortionate prices

Such Israeli tactics serve 2 purposes...

Creates tension & divides population into starving & just surviving…

It also squeezes every last ounce of wealth from those imprisoned there!!

“Bowen, of course, carefully ignores the part Israel played in arming these criminal clans and letting them steal food aid. The clans then sold that aid at inflated prices to a small group who could still afford to pay, while everyone else starved.”

Once again, Jeremy Bowen is misleading the British public about Gaza
The BBC international editor is required to report what Hamas actually thinks. Otherwise he is not a journalist, he's just another western propagandist

Trump overheard on hot mic talking to the President of Indonesia asking for a meeting with son Eric. Unless Eric’s converting to the Muslim religion, this sounds like Trump family business. Our Supreme Family of grifters never stop. Oh well, this is just the Trump family being the Trump family.

Staff and students came together early on a Friday morning to send us into negotiations. Our @leicesterucu.bsky.social community is amazing! Shame our managers were not willing to actually negotiate. At least they listened and they certainly heard the crowd behind us! The strike continues.

The negotiations did not lift the threat of compulsory redundancies, so we'll be on strike again in the coming week.

Ridiculous that Geography Geology and Environment at Leicester is under threat. @leicesterucu.bsky.social @ucu.org.uk . In the shadow of where David Attenborough grew up (house at the back), we are on strike to protest against this threat. #climatechange #attenborough

Seriously, this is embarrassing.

Do you want to know how UCU senior management has responded to UCU branches calling on them to remove their threat of deductions? This is how.

How would you react?

Screenshot of email from UCU management which reads: ASOS Attendance Form - New Weekly Survey
Starting Monday 22 September, all staff will receive an email with a link to the new ASOS attendance form. This short weekly survey is mandatory for all staff, whether you were on ASOS or not. Please make sure to complete it each week, failure to do so may result in pay deductions. The cut off each week will be Friday at 5pm.

Watching what our own @ucu.org.uk union is doing to @uniteucu.bsky.social workers is making me relive a lot of hurt from when QMUL did this to us (I wasn't quite aware of how much this was still live trauma but whew...)

Absolutely unconscionable that *our own union* is causing this long-term harm.

This treatment of staff by a trade union employer (or any!) is despicable.

Jo Grady must resign (in shame). She is not fit to have her name associated with the trade union movement.

Who’d have thought that UCU senior management would look at the punitive strategies used by university management in local disputes and think, 'Ah, that’s a brillitant way to attempt some strike-breaking'?

Why is @ucu.org.uk engaging in the very behaviour that we/it publicly call out when members’ employers employ such tactics?

It is shameful. It undermines every branch of #UCU

It’s utterly destructive to staff morale and our branches’ leverage

Not in our name.

We hoped for a slightly different response to our letter to @ucu.org.uk in which we highlight how this is in breach of our union's policy, copying hte worst of #UKHE employer behaviour, and flying in the face of our legal cases...

No response yet but we get this further copying of toxic tactics?

At our Emergency General Meeting, our branch unanimously voted in support of this solidarity motion with @uniteucu.bsky.social. This behaviour by @ucu.org.uk senior management is unacceptable and threatens the entire @tuc.org.uk movement.

Read in full:
qmucu.org/2025/09/24/b...
The branch resolves:

To write to the General Secretary seeking the immediate withdrawal of any threat of deductions for ASOS made to Unite UCU members.
To submit a complaint to NEC and make a representation to NEC seeking an agreement that punitive deductions for ASOS should not be used by UCU because it is damaging to all UCU members, as well as to the particular ongoing campaign by QMUCU members to seek restitution and damages against our employer.
If no agreement can be reached, to make a second representation to NEC asking NEC to exercise rule 2.11 and, if needed, instruct the GS under rule 28.2 to withdraw the threat of punitive deductions for ASOS made to Unite UCU members.
To write to UCU legal services seeking urgent clarification on how the union will handle the disparity between supporting QMUCU members to challenge punitive deductions and enacting them against UCU staff.
To write to the TUC General Council calling for an investigation of the conduct of UCU SMT in accordance with TUC Rules 12, 13, and 14, in coordination with Unite-UCU.

We had hoped our own union's senior management would listen to our pleas to stop their breaching of union policy and jeopardising of members' legal cases.

We are deeply disappointed not even to have had a reply and have no choice but to raise our concerns via other routes.
qmucu.org/2025/09/24/b...
This branch believes that:

Union management should not behave in ways that it would challenge in its members’ workplaces.
By threatening 100% ASOS deductions as an employer, UCU SMT is in breach of established UCU policy against disproportionate ASOS deductions, as adopted at Congress.
Threatening punitive deductions for ASOS against UCU staff is a failure of service to UCU members, because it directly undermines members’ right to take collective action, and members’ right to unbiased legal advice and support to challenge these deductions.
