Cats are also typically much more self sufficient than dogs (self-cleaning, don't need to be walked, poop in a box, etc), which is very appealing for a lot of people socialized to be unpaid and often unappreciated caretakers for those around them. They can, of course, be needy (& kneady) at times...

Apparently, mom is allergic to birds, grass, mold, some kind of trees, ragweed, and cats.

I wanted to give an update on the piggles! 🥰 They've been roommates now for a couple of weeks. They aren't sisters but I think they are friends. Miri is her old self at least. She did have to give in to Tilly who became the dominant one, but they're doing great!
