I'm not a spokesperson for them. I just have some fucking empathy and am willing to think critically about why they would join an organization that, until the fourth reich decided to use it as a prop for his political theater, was almost exclusively used for humanitarian work within our own borders.

As I understand it, his villain origin story is having a crush on a Hispanic girl in middle school and her rejecting him, so having AOC of all people be the one mocking him probably made it all the more infuriating for him.

And their choice is to go on this dumb deployment and stand around doing nothing for a few weeks or end up in a military court trial at a time when Kegsbreath has been purging anyone in JAG who isn't loyal to Trump.

If you're going to pretend that's really a choice, you're not a serious person.

Please remember that most of these people hate being deployed for this as much as you hate it. They signed up to help with supply chain logistics during natural disasters, not to be pawns in Miller's fascist takeover of the US.

Studies have shown that reading a physical book (whether visually or by braille) and listening to an audiobook use the same regions of your brain in nearly identical ways. The brain doesn't really care how information is absorbed, it just cares about the information that is reaching it.

The past 2 years I've been listening to audiobooks at 1.3 speed. Some things I've turned up to 1.4 or 1.5 speed.

I don't know how I listened at normal speed for 11 years. I had one recently that speeding up clipped too many words so I turned it down to normal and it was egregiously slow.

Yep. And the people who make that argument always ignore the fact that Braille is referred to as "reading" too, but there was a time when the word "reading" exclusively meant putting eyes to page and interpreting visual cues....almost as if words change as new technology is invented and proliferated

Around 4 this morning I went to go to Jack in the Box to get breakfast, and there was a raccoon on my car. I asked him if he wanted to get Jack in the Box too, and he climbed down off my car and wandered off.
