A 5 gallon kettle with a thermometer. and a 1/2 inch spigot near the bottom. On the stovetop. Thermometer reads about 150 degrees F. A steel pot containing a mixture of malted grains and flaked barley.

Lots of leftover bits from the MKIII marines that I used to build GK strikes quads. Tested out putting one of the bolters on a Frostgrave mini. I think I'll paint him as a tzeentchian chaos cultist.

The fog broke, and evening began to tint the sky. Back in Crossroads or Bardwell, bells would soon be ringing for sundown, but the city was silent. The circles of the dead were endless, beyond count as they passed them by. As they came nearer the city, though, they found many damaged, the bones shattered and strewed. Sometimes there was a fresher corpse among the disturbed circles, bloody and fetid. And when the fog cleared, a darker sight came into view. Above the city, as though suspended from puppets’ strings, hung a great dragon’s visage, straining against a net of silken shadows. A mist of dark water poured from its rupturing bonds, down into the city, oily black. Its flesh glistened like polished obsidian but was broken by cracks, from which flowed a blood of silver light. The pitiless stars of its eyes beheld them in the dim gloaming. The dragon they had seen in the city’s center, ancient Vodoniathan, firstborn of primeval Beladar. It had not loomed so over the ruined city when last they were here.

I imagine that time keeping in remote or rural areas is only as precise as necessary -- rising with the dawn, coming home with the tide, etc.. In cities and castles, there would probably be more precise communal clocks based on either magical or physical mechanisms. #SffChat

I usually have a pretty clear idea of the time of day a scene occurs, though it doesn't always make it into the written description. But, oh man, do I love narrating dramatic stuff happening by moonlight. I sometimes have to edit out a glut of moonlight-related descriptions. #SffChat

Glancingly referenced in Out of Dark Waters: Night time is always high tide, because the moon orbits Thindul directly opposite the sun, and the moon pulls the ocean. (Not because of gravity, of course; the same eldritch god created the ocean and the moon, and the moon calls the ocean home.) #SffChat
