What is the specific legal authority a Governor would use for such a declaration?

I think a lot of them are from The Bee’s automated social media bot, which seems to like such stories and other out of state clickbait.

Fighting to preserve congressional authority over the federal purse is something any elected patriot should do. Trump Party congressional electeds need to find their backbone.

“If Congress lays down its arms on its most fundamental authority, I don’t know what leg they’re going to have to stand on,” said Brendan Buck, aide to former GOP House speakers Ryan and Boehner.

Agreed. It’s a baffling & frightening threat to the constitutional order.

Congress is losing its grip on the power to spend Americans’ money
Congress is supposed to control spending, but increasingly, the White House is dictating how America’s money is used.

A peril of unmanned social media posts at The Sacramento Bee - in addition to posting a lot of weird clickbait out of state stories - is posting expired local weather alerts!

Signed! ✔️ After nearly 40 years, Californians will be able to have their names recorded accurately on their most important documents. Recording people’s names correctly sends the message that their identity matters and they belong here. Our names represent our culture, our family, and our dignity.

Thanks to @sierranevada.ca.gov and Placer County Water Agency, plus @asmdianepapan.bsky.social and @patterdude.bsky.social, for hosting legislators and staff today to discuss forest health and water quality in the American River watershed.

In response to questions: (a) insurance sector stability has been a rising concern & (b) the loss of health, food, and other benefits due to HR 1 are big concerns too, amplifying inequality & hurting health care employment. The feds still can blunt some of its impact (see current shutdown debate).

At least they show a “not interested”
option, as opposed to all the nonsense they give me on YouTube that lacks even that cursory form of protest.

Important progress. Grateful for bipartisan efforts to move this forward.

Governor Newsom just signed my bill to increase incarcerated firefighter pay 700% to the federal minimum wage.

Anyone who puts their life on the line to protect others is a hero and deserves both our gratitude and to be compensated justly.

By signing SBs 147 and 148, the Governor now has really finished signing 2025 #CABudget trailer bills. (Apologies for my prior, premature erroneous post on the finality!) www.gov.ca.gov/2025/10/13/g...

Insurance sector stability has risen as a concern in recent years. The federal government’s schemes are making some problems even more acute now, in my humble opinion.

Was asked recently what were the 3 biggest economic issues facing California. One of my choices is perennial…two are new.

1. More housing needed: all types, everywhere it can be built.

2. Lower birth rates of recent years and less immigration mean less workforce.

3. Less federal research funding.

Today, we honor the first peoples of California as well as their history, resilience, and enduring contributions.

Indigenous voices continue to guide us toward stewardship, justice, and respect for all who call this state home.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we recognize the history and culture of indigenous people across this land, and we look to those in our own community as a profound example of resilience in the face of intersectional injustice.

Today is a bank holiday with minimal #CABudget tax receipts at FTB, but $109 million of refunds were processed. Several billion dollars of receipts from LA and extension returns are expected in the coming days.

By 2030, data centers in California could consume the equivalent of adding another city the size of L.A. to the state’s power grid.

Unconstitutionally taking money that the law says must be spent on one purpose & using it for something else—when it's to establish personalist control over the FUCKING MILITARY—is about as dangerous a constitutional crisis/failure as you can imagine

The Office of Management and Budget sent a notification to Congress about their intent to use research and development funds to pay members of the military, two sources with direct knowledge tell NBC News.

A spokesperson for the OMB confirmed to NBC News that it plans to use the research and development funds and that there are two years' worth of funds available within the Department of Defense.

#CABudget: as of Oct. 9, $1.0 billion of net income tax collections by FTB this month, with $6.1 billion projected for the entirety of October. (The $6.1 billion includes $5 billion of projected income taxes by L.A. residents and businesses delayed to next week due to January wildfires.)

Democracy is the bedrock of our country and depends on free elections, the rule of law, and leaders who respect both.

When those values are under attack by authoritarian overreach, we must speak up and stand together.

Silence is not an option.

Heard today about how Trump’s dictatorial seizures of appropriated funds have denied the chance for dozens of new teachers to go out from a @calstate.bsky.social campus to serve rural students.

Trump Party leaders unwilling to stand tall and object are supporting harms to rural communities.
