Just trying to stay in touch with the people I know IRL. I'm going to check here every once in a while, until the world settles down. He/They/Whatever makes you comfortable. Would like to rejoin the EU in some form.
Rutger Bregman: "Across history, moments of decadence and decay have often been followed by movements of renewal, times when people redefined what it means to live with integrity and ambition. These lectures are my attempt to explore how moral ambition can help us face the challenges of our age."

He’s repugnant. Coming to that verdict requires no wrangling at all.

Last night we said goodbye for now to our last cat Dora, most likely to a stroke. She was a brilliant cat. I held her and reminded her how loved she is. Always be kind, you’ll never regret it especially when you are unexpectedly separated from those you dearly love. I hope we’ll meet again.

I wonder how they keep managing to shoot themselves in both feet? They had fourteen years to prepare. I think they will find themselves (as a party) running down the path toward oblivion that the Tories have already charged down. The Greens have a much more appealing message.

Nope. Not him, nor Bradley Walsh nor Alex Jones or others off the One Show. Strictly isn't comedy or daytime TV. They wouldn't fit. La Voix in for Claudia I think.

It’s the hysterical lying predominantly white male racists I worry about more.
So, Mike Graham was fired by Talk for failing to comply with an internal racism inquiry.

Here's what they happily allow on their platform. Not much between Graham's comments and many of these anti-migrant ideologues, arguably...

The thing about the moment we are in is we have been here before. During the Brexit Referendum campaign, the Johnson years, and now with Farage's ascent. Our established press has played a role in why we have got to this point in British politics. What's happening at the BBC now was an inevitability

There’s some pedophile sounding logic in that statement. It should sound alarm bells.

Robbie Gibb was appointed to the BBC Board by Boris Johnson, was an editorial advisor for GB News, and worked as Theresa May's Director of Comms.

He is not impartial or neutral. The government should remove him from the Board immediately to protect the BBC's independence.

I won't allow fascists to undermine my faith in the BBC because this is where it will lead us. Those fascists will have take away a platform that tries to tell the truth to all of us. Speaking of which let's have more information about the BBC board's affiliations. youtube.com/shorts/9qivX...

Once every 20 years or so, the director-general of the BBC is forced to resign for being insufficiently rightwing. Alastair Milne in 1987. Greg Dyke in 2004. Tim Davie in 2025. The great irony is that the BBC was in all cases profoundly biased towards established power. But just not biased enough …

🏊‍♀️The women who swim at Kenwood Ladies Pond have already made their decision.

In 2024, almost 900 members voted to keep their trans-inclusive policy - a policy that has worked peacefully since 2019.

Now, a small campaign group is seeking to overturn that democratic decision through the courts.

I heard Zohran Mamdani twice described as a radical socialist on yesterday's BBC Radio 4's Today programme. Up to that point I'd really only heard Trump, and his propagandists refer to him that way. Was Radio 4 justified in calling him radical?

I think Holly Willoughby would be a bad choice for the main program. Zoe Ball and La Voix would be great. Claudia is unique and adorable so HW would be a poor replacement for her and ZB would be a better Tess #Strictly
