I love food prep day! The @ranchogordo.bsky.social hominy & black bean pots made the house smell cozy, & now the cinnamon granola baking is adding to the fall vibes. I've still got cornbread w/ jalapeño honey butter, almonds, & leek potato soup left to cook, but the fall weather is PERFECT!

Both pictures are from my wee corner of the world. And I AM drinking chai tea as I type, thank you very much. This picture shows orange leaves adorning the trees in a small woods with the sun's glow creating a golden view of fall happiness.

This view is a bit later in the fall and shows autumn leaves in oranges and red that have fallen against the green grass. A weathered, wooden section of wall is to the left, hidden amongst the trees.

Things that have brought joy this week.

My favorite Mexican store carries a delicious treat! Lulú's plantain strips are pictured.

Another wonderful book from Carley Fortune. The cover shows a beach scene. The title, This Summer Will Be Different, is in blue.

A new bean dish. This one featured zucchini, corn, tomatoes, castle, beans, and then was topped with Panko, a bit of asiago, and a wee wee bit of mint.

It’s UnAmerican to be Anti-library.

President Trump fired our nation’s Librarian, Dr. Carla Hayden, by email at 6:56pm tonight, taking his assault on America’s libraries to a new level.

Over the course of her tenure, Dr. Hayden brought the Library of Congress to the people, with initiatives that reached into rural communities and made the Library accessible to all Americans, in person and online.

While President Trump wants to ban books and tell Americans what to read – or not to read at all, Dr. Hayden has devoted her career to making reading and the pursuit of knowledge available to everyone.

Be like Dr. Hayden.
