Figured I should make an introductory post here. Hi! I'm James (she/her), I'm an artist, writer, gamer, and all around cool guy. Formerly @jamespeppersalt / @hammjamwich on twt

I like video games, post a lot about critically acclaimed mmorpg ffxiv, and especially my lizard Ryuuga (he/him)
Image of me, a short african american woman in traditional clothing, hugging the giant pusheen at kinokuniya in NYC Image of my wol Ryuuga Taigen from critically acclaimed mmorpg ffxiv in vacation clothes, kneeling to pat his daughter, Malo, on the head

Most of his emotions he expresses while still having a smile on his face. You really have to look at his eyes and body language to see how he feels a lot of the time unless he's in company he's incredibly comfortable around

#wolquestion / #wolqotd

How does your wol / oc express their emotions? (Joy, sadness, fear, disgust, etc) do they have difficulty expressing themselves at all?

You're so good I am very intimately familiar with the past-bedtime yapfest

I will say I don't know how much of this is formatting changes for American editions but it is definitely something I've noticed 🤔 I think I'm also just overall more familiar with British colloquialisms so they stand out a little more to me as distinctly British
jamespeppersalt.bsky.social
One of the biggest things I notice mostly is writers from non-UK anglophone countries using "/' in the American way (as in "double quotes first, and 'single' quotes second") or following honorifics with full stops (Mr. Character versus Mr Character). And I do think this is to appeal to Americans
jamespeppersalt.bsky.social
Also since I am in America it could be our editions of these books are edited to more closely resemble the formats we use. British books are less likely to do this I feel, though it does happen
jamespeppersalt.bsky.social
I think it is mostly with recent books, though I will say I didn't read too too many Australian books as a kid but a lot of British classics. My assumption is that formatting has purposefully started to skew more towards American style to capture the market there in particular

And how could I forget most of all he sees it when he sees Fray in Ryuuga's body hug Rielle as if they'd lost her and were so afraid to let go that you could see the hurt
jamespeppersalt.bsky.social
He can hear it in the way that Fray chuckles quietly where Ryuuga always laughs aloud. In the way they stand, the way they smirk. In the expressions they give him that are so painfully familiar yet so alien on Ryuuga's face. What a concept
jamespeppersalt.bsky.social
Thinking about a situation where Ryuuga gives Fray control to meat mech his body around and Sidurgu is the first to notice something is wrong because he knows both of them so intimately
jamespeppersalt.bsky.social
If you think about it this is kind of what Mjaara did
