CT beating CA to ending parking requirements was not on my bingo card. Kudos to @rpa.org and the rest of the folks involved.

Connecticut has become the first US state to do what every US state should do:

It has put a total end to costly, arbitrary local requirements for new housing to include parking.

Massive, overdue win for housing and climate, for both people and the planet!
🚨BIG NEWS!

The CT Senate passed HB 5002 over the weekend, which fully repeals parking mandates for all residential uses! It's now heading off to the governor's desk!!

Big shoutout to the folks behind ctparkingreform.org @trumbullbrod.bsky.social and Casey Moran

This wealthy California city just flirted with bankruptcy to avoid new housing
La Canada Flintridge just flirted with bankruptcy to avoid approving its first multifamily hosuing project in more than a decade

Last night, we filed our appellate brief regarding our case against La Cañada Flintridge. This could lead to the first statewide precedent on California’s builder’s remedy, a law that allows developers to ignore local zoning if a city fails to produce a compliant housing plan. 1/16

Letter to Mountain View, CA re 5x Builder's Remedy projects (2,740 units, 20% affordable). The City cannot charge these projects park fees ($70k+ per unit), which are an unconstitutional taking and inapplicable under the HAA.
