We don't just want 9 river walks, we want access to all rivers. 96% of rivers in England and Wales have no rights of access. Landowners have blocked public access to rivers for centuries. Labour's promise is just 9 new river walks. We say that's not enough.

This is the third story in the past week detailing how natural carbon sinks are starting to falter. We don’t know nearly enough about how these tipping points could play out, but the potential for genuinely terrifying outcomes should be obvious by now.

You'd hope to get one off the back of that speech!
Emma Reynolds speech at Labour Party Conference drew on the 'spirit of Kinder Trespass' as a core Labour value......
Could this be a sign of hope?
“Food is at the heart of both human well-being and planetary health,” said co-chair Shakuntala Thilsted. “Transformation must go beyond producing enough calories. It must guarantee the right to food, fair work and a healthy environment for all.”

Food is wrecking the planet. And Europe has lost its appetite for change.
A landmark study says food systems are breaching Earth’s limits. Europe once promised to lead the way, but the revolution fizzled.

Big news for beavers in Wales 🦫

We’re thrilled the Welsh government has legally recognised beavers as a native species requiring protection. This is a huge step forward in ensuring beavers — and the incredible ecosystem services they provide — are re-established in Wales.

A big step forward for Wales.

Nice work Welsh Government.

Strong wording around their vital role in helping nature recovery, water quality and flow.

We're logging on to say a big thank you to everyone who joined our panel discussion at the Climate Cymru Act Now Change Forever mass lobby 🐝

We also wanted to say a big thank you to the staff at @climatecymru.bsky.social, Bethan Sayed and Stanley Townsend for organising a brilliant day.
Very well said. 👏👏👏

I'd also add: food is a commodity that we pay for at point of sale. Our taxes should be spent on public benefits, delivering multiple targets and helping save money across departments.

🚨 BREAKING: 20,000+ HOURS of suspected bottom trawling WRECKED the UK’s offshore marine “protected” areas last year, our research shows! 🌊 That would score tracks on the seabed that would stretch EIGHT TIMES around the UK. All with the government's permission! 1/4 🔽

1. This is a thread about Horticultural Extrapolation. Not something you're likely to have thought about, but it's time some people did.
What is it? It's projecting the mechanics of fruit and veg growing onto the entire food system. It's surprisingly common, and frequently leads people astray. 🧵
Please sign and then pass it on! We need this debate.
Our petition has passed 97,000 signatures and just gone up to 13th most-signed petition in the list. Thank you for all your support! We aren't there yet but we are very close to 100,000 signatures which will trigger a parliamentary debate. Plz keep sharing! petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70...

Eye-opening graph. The biggest wildfire incidents in the UK don't occur when it's hottest, in high summer: they take place in April - *when landowners set fire to their grouse moors & lose control of burns.*

Time to ban moorland burning.
