so I've been posting some medium-pro-AI stuff here but I do gotta say that the "AI 2027" essay is the dumbest fucking thing I've ever read

the free Chinese models are consistently about six months behind the proprietary ones from the American labs. if this sounds like I'm being optimistic about the American labs, let me assure you that I'm not, quite the opposite
New from me: Last year, the best open-weight AI models were made in the U.S. Now, they are all made in China.

PSA: calibrate your oven. The temperature sensors in residential ovens are wildly inaccurate. Put a good thermometer in there and see what it reads when you set the oven to "350" or whatever.

Some ovens will have a secret menu where you can program an offset once you find out how far off it is.

"You wouldn’t steal a car.
You wouldn’t steal a handbag.
You wouldn’t .."

But I did. I stole breath from the trees, light from the sun, meaning from the void. Each inhale a heist from Gaia’s lungs. Each thought, a burglary of God’s blueprint. What is ownership but theft with paperwork?

Okay so here's the story with this one. A few months ago I was at the wood store, whining about how expensive walnut was, as you do. I saw they had "rustic walnut" at a significant discount and said what the hell, right? Maybe I can make a coffee table for my living room.

this Danish Oil finish on walnut is just amazing, look at this color difference. it's even more striking in person, you see it shimmer as you move your eyes. and it's the easiest thing to apply, you just rub it on with a paper towel

back in the Golden Age you could grubdash a nice meal for two for $35 because the Saudi royal fund was footing half the bill for some reason, now all they do is debase our comedians

Recently I became convinced that we're on the verge of the whole AI thing that I've been kind of enjoying going completely to shit as every company simultaneously realizes that they need to embed ads in the models in order to get to the promised land of Positive Free Cash Flow.
