I guess if you’re using the Three Joker spectrum then they’re probably pulling from The Criminal iteration. So a more serious version that’s pulled from The Golden Age. Given that the show takes place I. The 1940’s that’s a natural fit.

It’s interesting that they didn’t show off any of the superhero elements here. If you didn’t know anything about this series beforehand you would think it’s just a show about Hollywood ala The Studio to The Franchise.

Also Mateo is Filipino! Another part of what made me love this short so much! The characters here bond with mangos which hit me hard as someone who used to eat mangos with every meal back in the Philippines.

Tonight I wounded up watching the animated short film Blush on Apple TV and it was so great. It’s inspiring by director Joe Mateo’s real life. His story of meeting his wife Mary Ann, having children together, and the loss of his Mary Ann to breast cancer. It’s really moving.
