so I think he basically just ended up getting mad at the Normans for "ending" what to him was the most interesting part of English history, that if they didn't show up in 1066 people would be more connected to Beowulf and the old sagas and whatnot.
In Tolkien's eyes the Norman conquest deprived England of its true heritage, that the Normans were culturally and linguistically inferior to the Anglo-Saxons. He spent a lot of his time studying Old English,
Tolkien's views on the Norman conquest of England is so funny. He was a great linguist but a bit weird when it came to history.

It's probably a rounding error for him, and in any case I'd imagine that Assad had a lot of overseas accounts that he can rely on.

But this attitude - taking Komeito for granted - might be what caused them to actually pull this trigger.

(To be clear: Takaichi may very well still become prime minister. We'll have to wait and find out.)
The funny thing is, everyone knew that Komeito doesn't like Takaichi and could withdraw from the coalition if she became president. But no one really thought they'd do it. I didn't, and seemingly most of the LDP diet members didn't either.

So, the US should not be bailing out Argentina's foreign exchange policy. But not because it's some kind of economic betrayal of American farmers or too expensive. We won't miss $20 billion and Argentina is an important ally worth supporting.

Rather, it's really bad policy *for Argentina.*

It's very funny, though it runs the risk of making me look silly for telling people "hey, Japan might get its first female prime minister" a few days ago.
