I'm also annoyed with "everyday Americans don't care about Israel and Gaza" and that's just not true.

Am I not an everyday American? Are my friends not real Americans?

People care about this because it's our legacy on the world. I would like to not contribute to people suffering.

People refuse to look at context at things that happen directly to them, understandably, but did people as a whole choose to ignore the killing and destruction bc they got land and they didn't care about those other people?

It's this huge case study in all the things that make the United States terrible.

This is what happened to Indigenous people and still happens.

Did Americans think much of the Trail of Tears enough to stop it? To the continued oppression of those people? Or did they think the way Israel thinks?

Then it doesnt matter because Israelis say there are no innocent Palestinians.

They don't see them as human beings, period.

These few years have shown me that the shoe society is fucked up and will need serious reckoning and reflection for them to get out of being sociopaths.

The human shields thing never made sense to me.

If you had a human shield say in a stand off at a bank robbery, the police don't shoot the innocent person to kill the robber.

Human sheilds are meant so people hesitate to do something deadly. Not an excuse to kill innocents.

The average American has been living under the assumption that WWII was extra bad and Israel was the response. The propaganda machine was so powerful that people who weren't looking for that info had that as part of the zeitgeist.

But it's laughable how it falls apart if you study just a little.

I think people find it easier to take a stand in an issue that has passed then one happening right now.

People lack the courage to go against the currant even if it's wrong.

You just have to change the currant.

It makes you feel insane when people can see the things happening in Gaza and not feel guilt about it. It's literally our money that is killing kids and starving them.

I think that you and I are very empathetic people and it makes it really difficult to look away from things we don't know. Some people are better at doing that.

I don't feel the exact same feelings about Ukraine because they are a country that has capacity to fight back and we aren't supplying

I think a lot of our politicians don't want to say genocide because they have been complicit in this one in various ways.

Supporting Israel has been bipartisan and this weird exception to everything in our politics.
