It’s hard for me to read about projects funded by the NEH pre Trump. We’ve lost so much culture and history in the US, the dystopian novels about abundantly ignorant leaders don’t feel like escapism anymore.

According to other parents, there is movement to centralizing the system to allow for greater accountability, but it's weird to have one hand of an org you've found superb to display fumbling ineptitude on the other hand. Given the human rights abuses and grift of Republicans, this is minor, I know.

Apparently it's an open secret (new to me) how badly run the rec leagues are as numerous parents and coaches shared. Our referees at my daughter's match were fine, & the low-level staff in facilities set things up appropriately, so the problem seems to be in leadership of facilities and at the top.

I love Minneapolis Parks and have long lauded the outdoor crews that serve the parks. So I was shocked to the learn that the recreation leagues run by Minneapolis Parks and Rec are scandalously unorganized. Finding information about your kid's practice & game times is akin to spycraft.

This is the blood quantum system imposed by the Federal government and still the basis for some tribal membership. There's a definite insider/outsider perspective to blood quantum language and debates. I'm an interested outsider, and thus don't use certain language.

*I'm not an accessibility expert and I haven't actually tested my Notion pages for accessibility, just played a bit, so take my considerations as preliminary. There are definitely some color choice issues, and even though Markdown is supported, I'm not sure screen readers "see" the headings.

Yes, you are correct. They turned it on months back (December 24?) but it wasn't there for years, which made me reluctant to use them for student-facing work with images. More than that, my preliminary testing w Wave accessibility checker shows that screen readers might struggle with Notion pages.*

Less folks jump to conclusions about the owner, small shops that go under for poor management sometimes hide family crises, so I don't want to j'accuse someone for losing a beloved shop when I don't know the full story. Still, a sad day for the bike community.

We loved having a bike shop down the street and Joe and Evan have been patient mentors as I learned to wrench. We bought several bikes from Farmstead for our kids. I've no idea what the future of the business or building are: the two are separately owned.

Minneapolis bike news: today's the last day for the mechanics at Farmstead Bike shop on Bryant ave. Owner has ghosted employees & customers, & refused to order product for months w/out explanation to employees. Likely they'll be closed tomorrow.
