jaacapjournals.bsky.social
Youth who endorsed sleep disturbances were more likely to be older, female, from a minoritized racial or ethnic group, and Medicaid insured, and were 23 times more likely to also have elevated depressive symptoms and 4 times more likely to endorse suicidality.

Adolescents with depression and low ICF had more improvement in depressive symptoms after treatment with 1-Hz TMS compared to other adolescents with depression. These results could help dose TMS for adolescents with depression in clinical practice and develop new TMS approaches.
jaacapjournals.bsky.social
A biomarker called intracortical facilitation (ICF) was used to see if measuring the function of a brain chemical called glutamate could assist in guiding the TMS treatment in adolescents with depression.
jaacapjournals.bsky.social
This study examined 2 different doses (1 Hz and 10 Hz) of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) treatment for adolescents with depression (n = 41). https://twp.ai/4irm7M

However, when therapists were licensed (22% of practitioners), STAND led to superior long-term adolescent outcomes for parent-rated hyperactivity/impulsivity severity and organization, time management, and planning skills, as well as youth-rated parent-teen conflict.

278 adolescents with ADHD (ages 11-17) were randomized to a clinician in the STAND versus UC group. In this 3-year follow-up of the original study’s outcomes, intent-to-treat analyses indicated no significant differences in adolescent outcomes between STAND and UC groups.

Research in #JAACAP finds that anxiety severity in youth is associated with changes in aberrant function in brain regions which may underlie hypervigilance to emotion stimuli and difficulty diverting attention in youth with anxiety.
