John the Elder I retired as a computer scientist 15 years ago to concentrate on worldwide events. My politics are now left of centre. I now write poetry as I'm severely disabled by a stroke, but still creative. @j1oakley.bsky.social

He thanked her and asked her to sit with him whilst he explained his plans for the whole Sundance plan. She came back to me some 30 mins later and commented what a nice man he was and he was something to do with acting...
I must explain that my wife doesn't do movies, so she had no idea who he was.
My favourite story is when my wife and I went for breakfast to Redford's restaurant in Sundance, Utah, and it was so good that my wife asked the waitress to compliment the owner on what was the finest restaurant in Utah.
So I got the words and her glasses and she sang the words a capella in my ear.
Unfortunately, she panicked as John D started playing and she couldn't remember the words! Unfortunately, she panicked as she could not remember the words.
I progressed from bar helper to studio manager over the years, and my highlight was when Cleo was starting her Christmas show by starting to sing "Chestnuts roasting by an open fire" in the bar, and walking into the concert hall still singing.
The first concert they ran was The Swingle Singers, in the stables of the Wavendon rectory, which they could just squeeze 160 people into, provided the front row were happy to put their feet on the stage.
Cleo Laine has died at 97. RIP you angel.

Judith and I had the pleasure of being members of the Wavenden Allmusic Plan charity when we first got married and we gradually got more involved as Wavenden, their home, was about 25 miles from where we lived.

Nobody's talking about it on Bluesky yet, but on Twitter there are several reports that Corbyn is furious at the gun being jumped on the announcement of a new party.

Will the initiative die before it ever gets started? The next few hours and days will tell...
I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.
