I'm not out to defend AI in general but people are so quick to dismiss it all just because it's so cool to hate on it.

It can be useful for research for the right cases and used in the right ways. The conversational aspect of it is useful as you can get it to correct things, explore particular ideas, hone in on what you want. The hype is ridiculous, but I get equally frustrated when people just hate on it baselessly

Have you used chat gpt at all? I have only used it for quite basic things but its ability to produce quite tailored content, and analyse inputted information is pretty amazing.

Really? Come on, some of the things systems like chat gpt can do are amazing. You can question the methods of the companies, the content theft, etc., but it's hard to deny that there are impressive things in the technology.
