If you’re thinking of a Halloween skeleton costume this year, may I present to you…
Also don't forget how essential eyeglasses were to the scholarly medical uniform used when examining a flask of urine while a worm-sprouting skeleton dances to a funky musical beat in front of you: digi.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/touch/totent... (from the Heidelberger Totentanz, ca. 1488) #HistMed
Bingo!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

A week ago, I went to our main campus on a Friday. Didn't realize the library and most units closed early. Campus police stopped next to my car to check on the building I was parked next to. They turned on their lights and I started getting short of breath - it never elicits a calm feeling.
My neighborhood has less lights and decorations than years before, the mood is just not the same.

It’s not just families going out door to door it’s also, families not wanting to have people show up at their door.

The fear this #Halloween is def not within the realm of fantasy 😔

That Rob Schneider comment should segway into a great opportunity to highlight the history of children’s #hospitals and how they played a pivotal role in medical innovations (ie. Iron Lung) and children’s life expectancy. Just sayin. #histmed

Finally read the paper and it's worth the buzz.
mRNA vaccines saved 20 million lives in a global pandemic and the technology is opening up new avenues for the treatment of deadly cancers. This is really one of the most impactful scientific developments of our time.

Interesting guess as I could see this too, but no this is for a Wolters Kluwer product, Acland Anatomy.
And to clarify there is a gallery it’s just not automatically shown on the their home page.
You have to select from a drop down menu or search to see images 🤷🏻‍♀️.
Thanks for sharing!

As promised, if you’re inspired by the march today but don’t know how else to get involved, how to sustainably fight fascism, that can look a few different ways. Here’s a thread of thoughts, short of nationwide withholding of labor / sustained protest:

This is good reporting on the disaster in Alaska if you're looking for a reliable summary.

This is a bigger disaster than I think most are realizing. 1500 people have been displaced by the flooding with an exceptionally complicated response and recovery.

We carry legos in our library to help as a de-stressor for our students and would love to have one of these to raise awareness of how play theory and legos can help lower anxiety in pediatric patients #medlibs
‘96% of healthcare professionals said the model helps to reduce children’s anxiety, and 46% reported a lesser need to use sedation after the children played with the set.‘

‘Lego doesn’t sell the sets and instead has donated more than 10,000 of the kits to hospitals around the world.’

The message is lovely, but I wish the artist chose a different way of representing “without color” that didn’t make the patient go from dark skin to light. I’m sure that’s not the intention. Greyed out to color would have worked too.
Is that a sapo concho reference I see? 🐸
