Their true moral greyness. Noah isn't really a character I code as a hero or a villain, and while I'm sure you could probably find a label to apply to him, I just don't think that way in writing him. His motivations are largely self-serving and that makes him an unpredictable player.

It depends. He does have one of those islands off the Cieldalaes, but not through the canon means of acquiring it. If he really needs to hide away, he'll go there.

Otherwise, he returns to the rooftops of Ul'dah on some of the backstreets where he grew up. It's comforting to him.
