🔹 Effective #RiskCommunication takes courage – to open up the risk analysis process to stakeholders in a meaningful and consistent way.

🙏 Thank you to everyone who joined us in Brussels and especially to our speakers for bringing the event to life.
🔹 Food risks know no boundaries, but neither does knowledge – new technologies provide new opportunities for building #FoodSafety warning and management systems, connecting communities of knowledgeable actors, and facilitating #RiskNegotiation between different stakeholders.
🔹 #RiskCommunication is based on TRUST – Transparency, Relationships, Understanding, Science and Technology.
🔹 #FoodSafety messages must connect scientific facts with emotional and cultural values – be empathetic, be transparent and be human.
Yesterday, on #WorldFoodDay, we brought together over 60 #RiskCommunication experts from around the world for our very first #FoodSafetySynergy conference.

What did we learn?
ℹ️ #Malnutrition in hospitals is a critical and global clinical issue that affects up to 50% of in-patients around the world. Malnourished patients have an increased length of stay, are more frequently readmitted and are at greater risk of complications and mortality.
🎉 Yesterday was the kick-off meeting for the new work on an ISO standard for Malnutrition Prevention, Detection and Treatment. The meeting was attended by delegates from many national standardisation bodies, demonstrating a widespread commitment to this initiative.

#WorldFoodSafetyDay
Our #WorldFoodSafetyDay webinar on 'Methods of analysis for special dietary foods: How science ensures food safety and quality for people with special dietary needs' took place yesterday, looking at the science behind analytical methods and how they contribute to #FoodSafety.
💬 Standards are only as good as their implementation and #MethodsOfAnalysis. Without such methods we would have no idea whether a commodity was meeting provisions that had been established to ensure the food was safe, or meet the quality parameters or nutritional requirements.
