Every day at noon, no matter how busy, Johny Merida Aguilar left his construction job and hurried to his 5-year-old son's school to feed him. His son has brain cancer and generally only accepts food from his father.

Merida Aguilar was arrested by ICE in September and faces deportation to Bolivia.

He was caring for his 5-year-old son with brain cancer. Then he was detained by ICE.

A court has temporarily blocked Johny Merida Aguilar's deportation to Bolivia.

Johnson is all over the map in terms of what CPD is allowed to do or not do; Snelling is going to take his cues from him. We need the mayor to clarify "no, CPD is absolutely not allowed to help ICE." (The police union leadership/Catanzara are Nazis and want to help ICE even though ICE gassed CPD)

Now that Trump has been elected and everything is a crisis/on fire, I don't know if voters in cities will have the much-needed discussion answering the most basic of questions: "do Dems and/or progressives run cities well?" Mamdani will be another answer to this

If Kamala had won, you'd have continued seeing the rightward lurch in cities that were moving to the center before the election. In Chicago, voters in early 2024 rejected Bring Chicago Home (our way of telling our progressive mayor "we don't trust you") and elected a tough-on-crime state's attorney
