I have no idea what you mean by "purity testing", but I do know that in my lifetime I have never seen or heard of a "one-day boycott" accomplishing anything. Massive extended boycotts like the Montgomery bus boycott that lasted months, yes. But a "one-day boycott" is slacktivism, nothing more.

A single-day boycott is doing NOTHING and thinking you're doing something - it is feel-good mental masturbation a.k.a. slacktivism. Attending a protest is doing SOMETHING that can make a difference - as is an extended (e.g. 90-day) boycott.
