Honestly I'm more of a Kisou-to-Marrow fan, but that review was just so funny to me. 😂 Maybe he'd really enjoy their later stuff since it's very much Western djent-influenced.

Thinkin about that forum poster calling Dir en Grey's VULGAR "their first album with real music", praising it's Western influences while chiding on its perceived "J-mo-ness", "still too Japanese for my liking". And in the same breath, praising bands like Coldrain cause "they sound so American". Wild

Thanks Robb, I agree! It's funny cause I never had these doubts when I was still starting out lmao, I guess Seeyastrat taking off into the stratosphere kinda rewired my vision haha. But I wanna tap into that earlier, carefree mindset I had before, could be a lot of fun too. 🙂‍↕️

real talk, I used to be SO scared of the 3rd .tsk album flopping or not being as liked as Seeyastrat. I know the folks really love their bittersweet emo j-rocks with clear vocals. But after having detached from the whole algorithm ecosystem, I can safely say that I no longer give a shit lmaoooo

I could do the same thing: release a super real, super abrasive song/artwork as catharis, and it could scare/push away folks! but it's real to and from me 😤 not so much about baiting hate, but more like "this is how I feel, and if you don't like it, then no prob! but I'm not changing the package."

It's funny, it and the owner isn't trying to convince you it's high art, it's not trying to deceive you, and it's generation isn't replacing someone's labor (it just wouldn't have existed). At best, someone would have probably used an image of Kermit instead.

When I was an engineering student, we were told to get some things to hold our drawing tools and prints. Some of us got those neat cylinder tubes that you could sling over, and some of us got neat A2-size sturdy zipper bags.
I wish the latter was easier to find here. 🥹
