moral of the story is i wish wotc didnt stop making magic the gathering cards in 2020. sad that it was cancelled it was a fun game
That makes a lot of sense, i still feel like Nuu LLing in only a year was also way too fast and made me feel sour, will be taking a break
and if anyone mentions vgc on this post im gonna lose it, and then im gonna reply "only 14 year olds play vgc"
so no, an isylander playing hypothermia is not the same thing as you sending your 400th head jab. 11/11
these are separate things. I NEED you all to understand that making progress and stopping progress are different things. fab isnt a game of who ever plays the most cards wins. What those cards do matters, and there is a lacking of cards that stop progress, and too many cards that make it 10/
things. I want to emphasize this again. Just cus you cant dump your hand and your opponent dumps theirs, doesnt mean an equal amount of progress per card is being made.
in fact, the majority of cards in an isylander, jarl, or nuu deck DO NOT make progress. they stop opponents progress 9/
they are not the same thing. fab players see an oponent playing cards while they struggle to play cards and think this is an injustice forced on them by control, but in reality the difference is their cards do something, while the disruptive cards dont *do* things, they only *stop you* from doing 8/
I am very sick of the idea that when a control player controls you, they have advanced the gamestate. they have slowed you moving forwards, they have not overtaken you. not all game actions are equal, and the majority of cards can be devided into makes progress vs stalls progress. 7/
a control deck in fab, just as a stall team in pokemon, wins first by stopping the opponent from doing their thing. this is a long and arduous process which is important to have options for. once a control deck has stalled opponents progress enough, can they begin to make their own progress 6/
when an opponent plays CLF, swings titans fist, and passes. they have made no progress, they have only created a boardstate where it is more difficult for you to make progress. they have not "done their thing" they have only done step one, stopping your thing 5/
fab players have it in their minds that when someone plays their cards they are "doing their thing" or "making progress" but this is simply not the case. there is a difference between a player doing their thing and stopping the opponents thing. these can not be the same thing 4/
pokemon actually has more tangible tempo interplay than fab, and its very similar in how it plays out, but with an emphasis on safe vs risky plays, but I want to make a point here that making progress is different than stopping progress 3/
People fundamentally missunderstand what is progress and what is doing things. In fab as in pokemon, there are many types of goals, such as aggro mirrors that will come at the gates swinging at eachother, trying to advance quickly to an end game state with minimal counterplay 2/
I want to introduce #fabtcg players to the pokemon (video game) concept of "making progress" as my last words on this anger/crashout.
In order to get an advantage, you have to "make progress." You should be taking actions that "make progress" via advancing small advantages to your end goal (1/)
yeah I need to do this, i mostly miss the community and the game a year ago, and i dislike owning so many cards im not using, but needed a push for at least a couple month cold turkey break
you misunderstand me, I am a deep enfranchised member of many fab communities, i just wish the game wasn't so ass
I day 2'd U.S. Nats and I have over 10 decks built in paper I can say what I want
which is to say, blocking is disruption but you guessed wrong as to who was being disrupted, as I can only guess you flipped a coin to write this post
actually more than vapid but completely lacking in basic thinking skills. sink below is literally the opposite of disruption. when you block you are losing an option on your turn, and your opponent draws full options for their turn

you disrupt, they are losing options and you draw up full options
there is not a single card in the meta of fab with half the interesting design or back and forth or interaction of doomblade
i wish i could be having fun with the 8 year olds
what I mean by this is, everything about the structure and gameplay and community is wonderful but I can't move past the entire gameplay and meta is hitting eachother with your stupid attack then them hitting you back in a way that feels like you only enjoy this game if you're 8
i wish I never started playing it tbh, at this point it's just a cognito hazard
i want someone to convince me fab is for me. i have thousands of dollars i wanna spend on cards with fictional characters I like, want to play hyper competitively every week, and love a good tight knit card game community of other competitive players, and it still feels like it hates me #fabtcg
this is a vapid way to look at fab
