The good thing about genre fiction like sci-fi and fantasy is it helps you to imagine that the world could be a different (better).

The problem with fiction grounded in reality is it doesn't. It reinforces acceptance of the inevitability of the world remaining as it is (pretty shitty).

I think you should call it "chat with the tap running, the heating on full and all the windows open". That way you'll be able to sell it to investors and force it on people whether they want it or not.

And food security is pretty weak and there being far too many humans is how we got into this mess and we're dismantling health care and all the employers are desperate to replace capable but expensive humans with cheap incompetent AI that doesn't eat into their super yacht money but apart from that

So we wander around the world destabilising countries. People flee those - now war torn - places to come here. Then we tell them we don't recognise their qualifications so they can only work less well paid jobs. Now we're going to ask them to what - write an essay about the imagery in Macbeth?

To be honest I've never felt any attachment to the George cross. It's always just been a symbol of football hooliganism to me. This doesn't feel like anything new. It's just bigger and shittier. As a British before English person the union jack is about unity. The George cross is about division.

If you achieve that by adopting the same attitude to the EU and migration as RefUK then you haven't achieved anything at all. You haven't protected against RefUK. You have just become RefUK. Fundamentally the problem is wealth inequality and the way to fix it is by taxing extreme wealth.

When I first joined here there was a lot of "there is no algorithm" and "we are the algorithm". I have no idea what that means but empirically it seems to involve my discover feed containing quite a few naked men in their bathroom photos. I'm not sure what I've done to achieve this.
