Zootopia 2 is an awesome sequel! While it’s not as good as the first due to repetitive pacing and a predictable trope that happens later. Judy and Nick’s cute relationship, the criticism on colonialism, and amazing animation are the big highlights. One of the much better Disney sequels as of today

I can’t help but worry about my students with green cards and visas who only came here to learn and be. Things feel encroachingly and increasingly unsafe for anyone of color.

'Sleeping Beauty' flopped in 1959, leading to cutbacks of the animation department in favor of theme parks, to make animation production faster/cheaper. Much of the women were the Ink & Department, yes, but getting rid of women were not why the cuts were made.

the reason 101 dalmations looks like that is because disney incorporated xerography (ie early photocopying technology) into the animation process. rough pencils (by mostly male animators) were copied onto the cels so that disney could fire the (mostly female) inkers. remember that art can lie to you
