Morning mist in the wooded Mooloolah Valley. The sunlight casts long, long shadows from trees on the ridges into the white mist below, which glows in the almost horizontal dawn light. Sunlight reflections on water, a constellation under us not over us. Part of a particularly intense rainbow. Blue light transmitted through the windows of Casa Batló in Barcelona. This was taken with a P910i phone camera, 640x480 resolution, leading edge in its day :-)

A letterbox in the wall of the Doge's Palace, Venice, in the form of a grimacing face with an open mouth, which is the opening. Under is written "Secret denunciations against anyone who will conceal favours and services or will collude to hide the true revenue from them." A place to anonymously denounce anyone guilty of peculation. The interior view of the secret denunciation letterbox, with two sets of doors into the box, the outer one with a lock. The opening to the outside is visible through the open doors.

The image is predominantly dark, with an almost black silhouetted trees in the foreground and dark, rolling plains behind, ending at dim, flat horizon. Overhead the sky is a little lighter, but again a fairly uniform dull grey, except about two thirds of the way down there is a break, and rays of sunlight are streaming through, from vertical to heavily slanted, illuminating the scene and bringing promise of light and day.
