Git is really awesome, until it's not.

I can't count the number of times I've somehow gotten myself into a horrible merge conflict situation, and decided it's easier just to copy everything to a new directory and just start a new repo...

I'm sure you can do better, but that is me.

Helped teach an intro to physical computing class at a local makerspace using the Circuit Playground tonight.

The best part was when the initially slightly bored middle schooler got into tinkering and exploring, ending with a “WOW! That’s so cool!” as he showed off his creation.

Gives me hope.
Circuit Playground Express
Circuit Playground Express is the next step towards a perfect introduction to electronics and programming. We've taken the original Circuit Playground Classic and made it even better! ...

Yeah, but how many of your patients have cornered you to ask about each and every one of the bazillion components of a CBC…

“Look, don’t worry about the RDW… I’m a simple person and just look at WBC, Hct / Hgb, Plt, retic, and MAYBE a diff, I ignore everything else and maybe you should too…”
Last question, I promise.

Does “unliking” a label post not unlabel you — ie, do I have to “appeal” the label to have it removed?

To declutter, I thought I should remove the Pediatrics label, as I’ve seen only newborns for 20+ years now…
And for anyone else who finds themselves here with the same question I had, I recommend going to the labeler and using “search posts” to find the specialties most relevant to you — much easier than scrolling
Thanks so much for what you do!

If only a fraction of my posts are medically-related, is it best to remove myself from the labeling to prevent spamming clinicians with irrelevant posts?
Ok I think I’m just dumb.

How do you get the #medsky labeler to recognize you as working in particular field(s), and in which posts will it show up?

I saw a thread with an endless scroll of possibilities but even that one seemed incomplete — saw pediatrics, but not neonatal-perinatal
For all intensive purposes we need to nip this deep-seeded issue in the butt so we can hone in and give stakeholders a peace of mind, irregardless of the mute points raised in yesterday’s pow-wow, which, supposably, peaked a lot of interest — Viola! The paradigm shift we've been axing for! - ChatGPT
Hurting organizations in the wallet seems effective.

Looking for lists of companies willing (or fail) to do the right thing for society, preferably with evidence. I understand it won't be black and white.

I want to support those willing to take more of a stand and avoid those that aren't

But if a physician gives really bad advice on a patient at an institution where they don’t have privileges, I would wonder whether their liability coverage would cover it. I honestly have no idea, maybe it’s fine.
Ah, should have guessed from the stone fireplace lol!
Animal Kingdom Lodge?

It’s my favorite place to stay. Boma, Jiko, bread service at Sanaa…
That’s pretty cool.

A few months ago I tried using birth date and birth gestation to calculate conception dates but wasn’t able to find interesting trends.

Only used data from a single healthcare system. Maybe low n, or maybe folks here just don’t like to … celebrate … as much as in England/Wales.
The reason I provided to them was: "There are consequences to Disney being unwilling to do what is right."
My kid (now 21) would have gotten along with your kid. Around the same age, she asked for a cake that said “Happy Birthday, Supreme Overlord”.

And for my birthday last year, she got me a book of the collected works of H.P. Lovecraft
Sad but grateful today. Told CFI that I'd be stopping flight training. Just under 100 hours total time, 33 hours solo, just needed school stage check + FAA checkride.

I'm grateful that I fulfilled a childhood dream of FLYING, but this is enough.

I'm going to miss the sky.

Would be nice if all those who left the CDC for conscience were welcomed to New England to set up shop
Sometimes I put notes to myself in a separate directory that I .gitignore because I don’t want them on GitHub.

Works ok until eventually I somehow accidentally save a private document outside that directory and essentially permanently make a private document public. Ugh.
Where is that hidden Mickey?
