Five years ago today, on 13th October, Apple introduced the iPhone 12 series. Apple is now known for launching new iPhones every September, and that was the plan in 2020 as well. But if you remember, the world was in lockdown, and the usual September keynote had to be postponed to October. Whilst the changes in the iPhone 12 series were mostly iterative, Apple brought back flat-edged sides for the first time since the iPhone 5s, and people loved it.

Yesterday, I published my iPhone Air review. I've been using the phone since the day it launched, together with my iPhone 17 Pro Max, switching between the two for the past couple of weeks. If you haven't read the review, I figured the iPhone Air wasn't for me (sadly), and I am returning it. Packing up the iPhone Air for return wasn't easy.

The second beta of iPadOS 26 brings back Slide Over. A lot of people, myself included, raised feedback, which definitely helped. I’m really excited. iPadOS 26 has made me consider finally upgrading my 2018 iPad Pro. But on my iPad mini 6, it felt like a downgrade because I don’t really use the new windowed mode, and Slide Over was taken away. Now that it’s back, I’m glad to see Apple iterating and listening to feedback.

On the latest ATP episode, the three hosts were talking about how annoying the user onboarding process has become when setting up new iPhones. As someone who had to go through this three times — on my new 17 Pro Max, the iPhone Air, and also on my older 16 Pro Max, which is going to my wife — I can confirm it is as annoying and time-consuming as it gets.

Apple dropped four new iPhones this year. And I managed to check all of them out. I also bought the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the iPhone Air. The regular iPhone 17 hasn't really changed much in design, but the other three models: the 17 Pro, the 17 Pro Max, and the brand-new iPhone Air are where the focus is.
