I really wish Stoj finished this for him. No idea how he delivered a perfect pocket pass out of that.
Mihailo Petrovic is starting to flash coming back from a hamstring so going to do a thread here.
He creates an advantage with a crossover beating his defender, drawing help, and generating an open corner three pointer for a teammate.

Mihailo Petrovic has been absolutely fantastic tonight. And I felt like he’s held up pretty well defensively too. Has the ball on a string and creates for every one of his teammates. So glad he’s getting meaningful run tonight. #illini

We need Tomislav to get back in shape. He is laboring out there, and we’ve really struggled at the 5 between Tomi and Z since the Alabama game.

The effort could’ve been better out the gates, but you can tell the communication / chemistry just isn’t fully there with this group yet, especially defensively. Does feel like it needs 2 weeks of straight practices to get guys flowing together. A lot of blown switches on ball screens. #illini

Starting to see why Mihailo Petrovic could be a real game-changer… ball never seems to stick when he’s in the game, and he’s showing defenses he can punish them if they go under on ball-screens. Really strong response from the #illini after UTRGV clearly brought more initial energy.

Liking UTRGV’s effort a lot more than Illinois’ right now. Not exactly a team that’s going to bow down and lose by 35+ tonight. Have to bring the intensity level up a notch…

3 early UTRGV offensive boards has Brad fuming on the bench, and I don’t blame him. Not enough “you’re going to feel me” from the #illini defensively out of the gate and on the glass.

Good game from Keaton Wagler, and Andrej Stojakovic had a great 2nd half. The final score won’t reflect it, but I thought the defensive effort was tremendous in the 1st half and lacked a lot in the 2nd. Need to play complete games, but a 40 point win is obviously great

It’s 36-35 Illinois in the 2nd half. The effort’s gotta be there for more of the game.
I know we’re up 40, but the lackadaisical defense in stretches of these buy games is a bit concerning. Gotta bring it for 40 minutes on that end.

So impressed with Keaton Wagler’s patience after he picks up his dribble in the lane. Almost never forces it and rarely makes a mistake. He’s playing beyond his year right now.
