Japan's early modern period and Tokugawa-Meiji transition--communications, education and literacy. 今、内海船、北前船の歴史に興味ある。んがしかし、研究あまり捗っていないです。Still not sure about this online stuff, so I guess I'm being coy: チャールズ アンドリューズ
Peter Coyote will be narrating my day:

"At 6:37 the dog jumped on the bed, licked his face, and then sat on his head. 'She seemed to want something, but damned if I knew what,' he later wrote." "At 6: 38, braving the cold, he went to the kitchen, and fed the dog. But for him not even a Grape Nut."

I thought I knew her. Last night my wife microwaved some orange juice. I went "bleh!" She informed me she's been doing this since we've been married (26 years) and that it's common in Japan. Last summer I returned from Japan and said, "hey, Gifu Shōgyō HS made it to Koshien semi-finals!"

"I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping; while my guitar gently weeps" is kind of an ADHD lyric.

My wife last night: "You're watching that again?" [The American Revolution]
Me: "Yeah. It's a mini-series. I'm learning a lot that I didn't know."
Wife: "But you know how it turns out."
Me: "Well, I thought I did."

I don't know what the big names are getting for Commencement Addresses, but for a mere $20K I will stride across the stage to the podium, beam a smile from left-to-right, right-to-left, point at the parents and then raise a fist and say, "commence."

Tough night for the wife. She was called late last week to provide care for an elderly man tonight from 2-7. (She works for a care-provider company.) The family cancelled, but she was already on her way. Technically, they have to pay her thru the company, but she says she has to remind HR. F'd up.

Learned a new descriptor from my partner today: 雪ちらほら降ってるね。Yuki, chirahora futteru-ne. Hadn't heard "chirahora" before. But it was perfect for the very scattered and granular snow we had today. So I guess "scattered" is the best translation.
