The Trump Administration has chosen to stop funding SNAP (food stamps) for 42 million Americans during the federal government shutdown. Visit snapfederalimpact.illinois.gov for the most up-to-date information and to find local food banks & pantries.

Who does this impact? 1.9 million Illinoisans will go without food benefits starting November 1.

Our local economies will suffer.

SNAP supports close to 20,000 jobs in Illinois.

For every $1 in SNAP benefit, there is an economic impact of $1.54 to our local communities resulting in a $7.2 billion economic impact annually to the Illinois economy.

How can you help?

Support your neighbors. Donating cash to your local food bank or pantry is an efficient way to help.

Advocate for federal funding. Contact the White House to request the Trump Administration fund November SNAP benefits & work with Congress to permanently reopen the government.
