Daily #4149.
In the service of the sacred word.

Photo taken from the screen of the cut piece of paper from a book on this day in 2021.

Kept the flash off so that the shape could glow through today's drawing.
We need more naps. I am not very good at napping myself. The narrative of work until you are burned out is deeply embedded in my psyche.

Decline of the recline.

Today's resulting cut shapes on arranged to lean on one another on a blanket.

Yearning to heal.

From the computer screen, a photo of a forest in Tenerife, Spain shot in 2022. Sadly it is likely that fire has consumed it in the past year.

No business.

A card spray painted with black and then gold. A reflection on our crisis of how value is stored verses circulating.

Stacking time.

Through today, a drawing from this day last year. I could probably spend all next year just taking pictures merging this year's and last year's daily drawings. But then I would miss the colours that come from allowing anything to become part of the whole.
Eye to eye, in this moment, regardless of each other's intent, we are one.
Where they do hesitate is when we approach them. One slow step towards them and their body language reacts instantly to us as a threat. What amazes me is when staying still, there can be moments when it's wondering what my motives are.

Flying is delicate.

Out in the park today to see the black hooded crows. The other day saw one land on top of a tree, upon a thin branch that I did not think was substantial enough for the crow to land on. It achieved this landing so nonchalantly, without any hesitation.

Balancing the days.

A spray painted cut piece of paper that looks like a shark mounted on a piece of spray painted cardboard. The piece is balanced on one edge upon a canvas painted in grey and leaning on a canvas painted in green. The flash of the phone camera was used.

Sanctuary of gratitude.

Not exactly sure where the photo displayed on the screen was taken.

Have been thinking about gratitude lately. The word points to a sensation that one experiences that requires a story. Can you think of one where you felt this?

Majesty.

Photo shot in Monument Valley. It looked like it was on fire. It's hard to believe that this scene was before my eyes. The light from the flash acknowledges the illusion provided by the screen and the drawing validates this fact into finality.
Due to the illumination from the image on the screen the built-in flash from the phone used for this shot does not make the surface of the paper brighter as it usually does. And yet there is a hint of a shadow on the screen from the drawing.

Passed shadows.

In the background a photo taken in September of 2023 in a former factory turned art space somewhere in Berlin.

Energy court.

Attended a ceramics community sale and took a picture of a nice plum tart made by a dear friend of mine.

A break.

Through the drawing, a photo taken in Monument Valley National Park in March 2024.

Take me to the other side.

Photo was taken from inside a car while waiting for the light to change. Oaxaca City, Mexico circa November 2022.

Forest glitch romp.

One frame from something very glitchy in the works.

The pin.

What do you see in today's drawing? Had not intended to create anything particular. My own interpretation may be coloured by my current mood. But I definitely see the pin and complimenting it with a physical one felt appropriate.

Matters.

Found a CD laying on a table in the courtyard of the building I live in. There's no title but if you are keen eyed you might see of whom the photo is.

All things created by beings, no matter the purpose, that continue to be present, are messages from the past.

Re-bring the light.

The grey has returned to Berlin in its fall season form. Si decided to use some yellow and place today's resulting pieces on it for a touch variance.

Basic building materials.

Had a band assignment today in an urban forest. Had planned to shoot this drawing there but the events were so consuming that forgot about it. Found this situation on the walk back to the apartment.

Rain date.

Just a day of rest while it rains all day.
