The Indiana Senate Democratic Caucus offered 55 amendments to the state budget - all rooted in what Hoosiers actually need. Not one was accepted on the Senate floor tonight. Senator Andrea Hunley spoke for the caucus, for families, and for a future worth fighting for. Hoosiers deserve better.

I will continue to fiercely advocate for a budget that fully funds traditional public schools, Medicaid, CCDF and On My Way to Pre-K. With a $47B biennium budget, the question is not whether we have the resources to invest in Hoosiers; rather, it’s about funding priorities.

In Republicans' proposed state budget, private schools get a 28% funding increase, and virtual charters get a 20% increase, but traditional public schools only get 2%. When you factor in inflation, our public schools get a funding CUT!
