Today is Evacuation Day in Tunisia, marking the retreat of the last French soldiers from the city of Bizerte. France began its occupation of Tunisia in 1881, though by 1956, it controlled only Bizerte. Tunisian forces eventually blockaded the city, forcing France to withdraw entirely in 1963.

Today is Thanksgiving in #Canada. While similar to American Thanksgiving, Canada's tradition is traced back to 1578, when British explorer Sir Martin Frobisher and his men searched for the Northwest Passage and shared a meal of biscuits, salt beef, and mushy peas.
Indigenous Peoples’ Day is celebrated on the second Monday of October. While it began as a counter-celebration, with some cities and states replacing it for Columbus Day, others still commemorate both. Others also refer to it as Italian American Heritage Day.

Today, folks in Suriname celebrate Maroon Day, a holiday marking the legacy of the Maroon people. In the 1600s, the Dutch seized Suriname, bringing 13,000 African slaves to work the fields. Some escaped to the jungle and established their own community. Maroons now make up 20% of the population.
Thanks to Renee from Numotion, who’s helped our clients with mobility issues. She''s worked to obtain five custom, life-changing wheelchairs.

Thanks to her, these clients are leading productive lives, including an eight-year-old and six-year-old, both with cerebral palsy.
