Hungry for Sound. MUSIC, Art, Film, Photography and often found spinning small shiny 💿
My lunchtime listen, Alex Skolnick Trio, 'Conundrum' (2018, DL), the opening track just had me both gasping and smiling. Yet another wonderful album, bristling full of superb compositions and incredible ensemble playing 😎😍

Morning dog walk with Ludovico, 'Prelude to Autumn' and 'Sense of Summer' (2025, Tidal). Both of these were, as expected absolutely beautiful. Just lovely music for an early start to a miserable damp day 😎👌

One week to go, and a couple of surprise KC guests are expected to join Jo Kendall, Mike Barnes, and me to talk about and listen to King Crimson's third studio album, Lizard. Grab a ticket and join in the fun.

Absolute cracking album, ‘Last Day in Paradise’ (2007, CD) from the Alex Skolnick Trio. Absolutely on fire 🔥here, the interplay is lightning quick, and drums/bass are never for a minute in the background or just ‘supporting’ which I love 😎

Back in this lovely ☺️ place, live Protocol V sessions with Simon Phillips (2025 HiRes DL). Just magical!

Some afternoon listening, Blue Album this time, again 2023 CD edition. Again great separation and depth to recordings 😎

Coming to the cinema in a couple of weeks, John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’ (1982) with a lovely 4k restoration. Would love to see this on the big screen, so very likely we will be there!

Incredibly good album, Alex Skolnick Trio, ‘Veritas’ (2011, Tidal). One that I was disappointed when it stopped, an album you just want to go on and on. Some incredible textures, tunes and playing. Love it. 🥰

Last night’s treat. Got there only just in time (!) so no pre photos (or any). Inside No.9 ‘Stage Fright’, Edinburgh Playhouse. Hilarious, zany, weird, everything as hoped for! A great time had 😎👌

Fractal Sextet, ‘Sky Full of Hope’ (2024, CD). Just had its first anniversary this week, and still sounding superb. This has been an excellent project, so here’s hoping a third album might appear in the future. Edwin, Thelen, Durant, Anile, Pupato, Gabay 😎

Cheap purchase, but oh yes, the Swiss set is well worth it. ‘Honky Tonk’ just delivers in spades, unbelievable grooving, is it jazz, is it funk? Everything happening with Miles flaming 🔥away over the top of the band. Loving this. Hope the Milan one is similar, but tbh doesn’t matter now!

Stereo, separation, bass, all just sounding very good indeed, and better than I’ve ever heard before to be fair. Still struggle to engage fully until half way through disc 1, but working on it 😎
