Unless something changes, this year will mark the first in many that I didn't make it out to see @jeffrosenstock.bsky.social. Astounding punk songwriter, vocalist, bandleader and performer. Even when listening to other styles of music, 'Papa Jeff' is a polestar.

The cover is a mostly neon pink collage with cartoons, old photos, images of police actions. The title of the record is diagonal blackletter-style letters which are also slightly pixelated. As if this is the game over screen for a real life video game. The record itself is neon pink. Not sure what I had to do or where I had to pre-order to get one of the more limited pressings that pop up everywhere online right after release. Kind of annoying known issue with Polyvinyl. Whatever. It sounds awesome.

Not saying you were! Sorry if it came off as direct criticism. I'm in full celebration mode for this contract. I really enjoyed parts of Dallas but am having trouble justifying trips to the American South more and more these days.

I understand the compartmentalization but the best thing for Dallas and Miami would be if they taxed their residents and started providing a modicum of gov't services. I went to Miami to watch the Devils in '23 and the place fucking sucked man. Dallas/Nashville in '19 wasn't much better.

At the same time it's great for the sport. All these great players 'taking less' on the one hand and running to markets with lower income taxes on the other is a contradiction that cannot and should not stand.

As Netanyahu addresses the United Nations in New York City this morning, the world recoils in horror at the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

This morning, Benjamin Netanyahu will address the United Nations — an institution which has concluded his government is committing a genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. He arrived in New York after a flight that added hours to its path to circumvent the airspace of countries which might enforce the International Criminal Court's warrant for his arrest. During the course of his speech, another Palestinian child will undoubtedly be killed by the Israeli military in Gaza, as they have been every single hour for nearly two years.

Eric Adams will greet Netanyahu as a friend. Andrew Cuomo proudly served on his legal defense team. Both have jockeyed for the approval of Donald Trump, who has sent billions of our taxpayer dollars to support these war crimes.

A Mayor cannot end these atrocities. But they can speak for the values of this city: a commitment to human rights for all people, including Palestinians, and a yearning for peace and justice. Even if those values are anathema to those in power now, they will endure.
