Using ACS 2023 + 1987 Compulsory Schooling Law as instrument:
📈 OLS returns: 9.5–10.4% per year of schooling
🎯 IV returns: 10.4–11.7% — higher causal returns
📚 Law increased schooling 0.67–0.73 yrs

COVID-19 school closures resulted in schooling disruption. Global test scores declined 14% of a SD, or 7 months of learning. Losses greater for students in schools that faced longer closures, boys, immigrants, disadvantaged.
