3/ There were more people on bikes than cars during the morning peak on June 25 weekdays. The overall daily average was 37% cyclists, so more than 1 cyclist for every 2 cars. @katherinedunne.bsky.social @shansview.bsky.social @willnorman.co.uk @hounslowcouncil.bsky.social
2/ Numbers cycling on Chiswick High Rd exceeded 5,000 in a single day during the September tube strike. @katherinedunne.bsky.social @shansview.bsky.social @willnorman.co.uk @hounslowcouncil.bsky.social
1/ We've obtained 2025 data from TfL VivacityLabs traffic survey cameras on Chiswick High Rd. Spoiler alert - the numbers of people cycling continues to grow! @hounslowcouncil.bsky.social

The reduction in casualties isn't surprising. Other locations where road space has been reallocated to protected cycle lanes have also shown safety improvements as it reduces exposure to the biggest danger - motor vehicles

Numbers of cyclists have increased almost 60% since 2019 so this represents a significant reduction in casualty rate. In 2024 there were no recorded pedestrian casualties as a result of collisions with cyclists.

DfT has published 2024 STATS19 road safety data. We looked at 15 yrs of stats #Cycleway9 section Chiswick High Rd & the great news is since C9 was completed in Jan 2023, overall traffic casualties are at the lowest level yet.

Slightly belated thanks to everyone who joined the midsummer rides to Richmond Hill 2 weeks ago and enjoyed the gorgeous sunset!
Our member Winston Gordon has done so much to help people cycling in the area (Dr Bike, Smoothie bikes, leading rides and much, much more) He is leaving London and we had a farewell party for him last week. Thanks for everything Winston!
DfT has published traffic counts for Wellesley Rd, Chiswick. Since 2016, motor vehicles down 30%, bikes have doubled & are almost one third of all traffic. Still too much motor traffic for cycle route & area needs a #LTN @katherinedunne.bsky.social @hounslowcouncil.bsky.social @willnorman.co.uk

Thank [email protected] for this excellent purple bike tire pump & huge array of bike accessories to use for free in #BostonManorPark. They were easy to use. No big muscles required! May they stay safe and intact! Use them, fellow cyclists. @hounslowcycling.bsky.social
