My full spread for A Roam Reborn, a #FFXIV travel zine! Kugane Tower ⛩️

Started this one a little over two years ago, about Finch struggling with old grief for an old friend

Text: He remembers waking with the tide over his head, and choking on water and salt, and feeling the huge weight of the wave dragging itself back out to sea with pieces of the shore still in its grip. He remembers the surge of vertigo as his fist closed around water. The ocean had held on to Primula, and he hadn’t. He suspects he’ll remember that much for as long as he lives.

And in his dreams, because it’s the way of dreams, he always truly believes he can set things right. He truly believes he’s found her.

In terms of their relative Weirdness if you were to see them in a room:

Rising - normal enough
Finch - sort of like seeing an unusual color morph on a wild animal. not your everyday soul but not crazy, stuff like that just happen sometimes
Eir - whole entire dragon stuffed in a briefcase

Rising Night looks like the muted light of a fire behind smoke, or a setting sun behind fog. A sort of cool, steady burn. A close look at his aether would show that it stands eerily still at the extremities, in a way anyone with the bad luck to be familiar with the Black Rose toxin will recognize

Eir looks like someone tried to bottle a thunderhead. Her aether (and soul) is far, far bigger than her mortal form is, and it skews hard towards lightning in a way a mortal’s shouldn’t. It looks like a mantle of black clouds—or, if you squint, tightly folded black wings—lit from within

Finch looks kinda like a cobweb (or the cosmic web if I want to be pretentious lmao). His aether is unusually diffuse. There’s a normal amount of it, but it’s spread out into filaments with voids in between. No real cause for it, he’s just on a very far end of the natural aetheric density spectrum
