Hollinger POTD Paul Pierce. Kansas SF fell to BOS 10th in 98. Broke out quickly as pro, peaking at 26.8 ppg in 05-06, 10x all-star. BOS star from 1998-2012. Also played w/BRK WAS & LAC thru 17. HOFer. Per bio "had to take a lot of crappy shots...cuz BOS had no other scorer." HOFer.

Bonus Hollander POTD Derek Harper. Illinois PG was drafted 11th in 83 by DAL. Screwed up in playoffs as a rookie but developed into a very nice player, peaking at 19.7 ppg. Traded to NY in 94 & almost put them over the top in 94. Great hands on D. Somehow never an All-Star.

In 99, Marbury dissed Ward & Childs as not good enough for NY to win a title. Ward went 11-6 head-to-head v Marbury...

Hollander POTD Charlie Ward. Heisman QB from FSU was drafted 26th by NY in 94. Unflashy PG eventually became a starter & Van Gundy in late 90s, peaking at 8 ppg 6 apg. Memorably started 97 brawl w/MIA in playoffs. Lacked flash but advanced stats were pretty good.

The trade of Cassell (and a pick!) for Jaric might've been the trade that ended KG's MIN tenure. Here's Bill Simmons' 2006 Atrocious GM Summit that featured that trade prominently: www.espn.com/espn/page2/s...

Hollinger POTD Marko Jaric. Serbian G was drafted 30th by LAC in 00. Came to NBA in 2002 & was an energetic big guard for LAC. Peaked at 10 ppg 6 apg in 2004-05. Traded to MIN in 2005 where he had 7 ppg 3 apg for 3 yrs. Returned to Europe in 09 and retired in 2011 but tried a few comebacks after.

Bonus Hollander POTD Randy Breuer. Minnesota C was drafted 18th in 83 by MIL. Despite slow star was solid platoon big w/Mokeski. Peaked in 87-88 (12 ppg, 7 rpg). Always tough on D. Dealt to MIN in 90, where he scored 40 on GS(2/4/90). Bounced to ATL & SAC before retiring in 94.

Hollander POTD Norm Nixon. Star PG for LAL from 77-83 before trade to SD. Contrary to lore, he wasn't immediately hurt after trade. Had 3 good yrs & was all-star in 84-85 but then hurt knee playing softball & then blew Achilles. Played briefly in 88-89 before retiring.

Hollinger POTD Desmond Mason. Oklahoma St Sf drafted 17th by SEA in 2000. Explosive leaper peaked at 17.2 ppg w/MIL in 2004-05. Scored double figures from 01-07 & had as high as 6.5 rpg. Not a passer/shooter though. Also played w/NO, OKC & SAC thru 2010. Also a good painter.

Bonus Hollander POTD Cherokee Parks. Duke C. Drafted 12th by DAL in 95, where hope was he would fill C hole. After 1 meh season, sent to MIN. Best season was 97-98 (7.1 ppg 5.5 rpg). Bounced to VAN, WAS, LAC, SA + GS as backup thru 2004. Post-NBA life has been interesting.
