There is an option for a count attack by the French but you have to get me off the first table before that can happen....

20mm French R35 decals done, light dusty weathering done. Now to let dry throughly and varnish

Sorry to hear that, thoughts with you and your family

Looks amazing, gotta love yourself some mosaics!
hobnobnobby.bsky.social
Oh yes, dirt dust and chipping to follow once I have worked out what u am doing with the decals
hobnobnobby.bsky.social
The Camembert drug crazed French R35 camouflage pattern is sort of complete. Next are the decals once I work out what the hell I need to do?

Last night as the French successfully held off a German Blitzkrieg we bumped in to how fixed line Forward Observers mesh with the abstraction/virtualisation of Forward Observers in the new rules.

Anyway a suggestion - the Forward Observation Point (FOP)

Well played, I too enjoy the frisson of terror when spray varnishing and seeking to avoid the Milky Coat of Doom that sometimes occurs...

Yup I saw Rob at Colours and this led to me backing as soon as it came out. His enthusiasm was catching!
hobnobnobby.bsky.social
True but it is a long road to get there!

I hope there is a special level of Hell that the Camembert drug crazed French designer of their camouflage pattern resides in! What’s wrong with good ‘ol olive drab?

Looks like a fantastic game and table, very envious

Looking good, what are you using as the bas material? Rubber sheet and caulking?

Slap a couple of washes on the Frenchies and it makes a world of difference. On to highlighting and finishing! #wargaming #spreadthelard #chainofcommand
hobnobnobby.bsky.social
They will look a lot better once a wash is applied... hopefully

Great progress on the Frenchies. Base painting done and now the exquisite joy of the application of a wash to actually make them half decent.

Why do base coated minis look they have been painted by a toddler?

Painted as per wargamingthings.blogspot.com/2025/07/pain...

These are 28mm STLs reduced to 20mm (78%) and don't suffer too much from thin bits as a result. Try and choose good 28mm sculpts or go for 15mm scaled up if you want the extra solidity. Honestly one bottle of £20 standard resin will print circa 100+ figures and a couple of dozen tanks
hobnobnobby.bsky.social
The key thing is over curing of the minis, it can make them a little brittle but I can drop them and they survive no problem. I find ppl who say 3D prints are prone to breaking have either over cured or used the wrong resin for the job
hobnobnobby.bsky.social
Yup 3D prints, I usually use ELEGOO 8K 3D Printer Resin for about £20. Perfectly fine and not brittle as long as you don't over cure the minis. I have also used Phrozen RPG Resin at £50 a bottle - this produces minis that have extremely flexible rifles etc but too expensive for most of my printing

On the battlefield or as miniatures?

Another bunch of 20mm French infantry and AT gun crews begun. Hardest part of painting as it seems you have miles to go and the enthusiasm can be hard to find. Painting as per wargamingthings.blogspot.com/search/label... #wargaming #spreadthelard

David Stahel's superb books on the Eastern Front have a similar "compact" font that makes reading a concentrated task - superb books and content but definitely a wall of text
