It’s kind of easy to forget how much harder it is to do what Raleigh is doing as a catcher. He’s incredible.

Cal Raleigh caught 209 pitches two nights ago.

Wait what is the overriding comment
highheatstats.bsky.social
Yeah I guess it says more about me than either of you two guys. I absolutely assumed it would be there, to the point where I didn’t even give it a second thought.

Oh yes. I just meant I have been reading and re-reading your Black Archive so I’ve been thinking about Castrovalva every day for the last few weeks :)

I thought you, not Dave, would at least mention it. But, fair enough, it is YOUR podcast!

I am stunned The Five Doctors wasn’t mentioned in this episode.

Would make a great List Makers topic. A lot of Holmes stories come to mind since he just such a great job with world-building. Would be cool to see Graf Vynda K’s earlier battles, or how Morgus came to power.

Something tells me this Cubs-Brewers game is going to be another instant classic.

What spurred the question is that I’ve become SO indoctrinated to look for characters on whom no suspicion has been thrown. These days, they are usually the ones who dunnit. But in classic films, rarely the case.
I also keep thinking of Shardovan in Castrovalva thanks to @andreworton.bsky.social.

It would be nice for the Mariners to make it to their first World Series. It continues to annoy me that the team has never been there. Having lived in Seattle for years, I can say that the fans there deserve it.

Yes, I guess that’s what’s odd about this film. It starts with a whodunnit that is then fully explained partway through, then then result is fundamental good vs evil showdown. It’s oddly both.

It’s a good film. Plot is taken directly as homage to high noon. Killers arriving on shuttle, nobody on space colony will help. Even though it’s a mystery setup, there is zero misdirection about who the main villain is. Whereas with modern films I always expect misdirection now.

Have you seen Outland (1981, Sean Connery)?
highheatstats.bsky.social
@mattbarberuk.bsky.social movie question for you. Old films were always straightforward in terms of who was the villain. These days, most whodunnits employ misdirection instead. Was there a clear period during which this strategy changed?

A huge unexplored area for Doctor Who expanded universe—the backstories for many. Other stories that could have epic, non-Doctor prequels: Leisure Hive, Talons, State of Decay, Planet of Fire, Terminus

Gillian Anderson has quietly turned into one of the best actors of her generation.
