Guess I’m here now! Where are the bird photographers? 🙋🏻‍♀️
Anyway, if someone knows how to get neosporin onto a wild but friendly squirrel, I’m all ears. (Mostly kidding). Also did you know that there’s a man on the internet who sells ivermectin just for squirrel mange? That is all. 4/4

All the others chase each other, but she’s always solo. Until today. I looked out at the fence and there was another adult squirrel with her, trailing right behind her. No aggression. I realized he has an injured paw. I don’t know how they came to be together but they are the sweetest outcasts. 3/
She keeps scratching the same spot open, along with one of her eyes that I’m now pretty sure she’s blind in. Despite that, she survived the windstorm and smoke from the Eaton fire like a champ. But she always visits alone, and the others don’t bother her or try to defend territory from her. 2/
There are around 8-10 squirrels that hang out around our house. I scatter walnuts for them (except for two that I hand feed, yes I know, no I won’t be stopping.) They were passing around mange last year and one got a particularly bad case and never fully healed. 1/
When I feed the squirrels, this buddy comes too. I think he’s cached more walnuts than they have at this point tbh.

Unrelated: anyone have a good vertigo remedy or am I doomed to be horizontal all day?

We have gulf fritillaries here and they’re one of my favorites! Just posted a photo of one.
It’s the cruelty of it all that really gets to me. The consequences will be dire, but it’s the cruelty.

Ahh this is so cool! I don’t know how he ended up on our street, but he’s more than welcome to our walnuts.
I should clarify that I’m in the Los Angeles area!
@phylogenomics.bsky.social posted about this for me recently, but I’m here now so I’m posting it again. Can anyone with #squirrel knowledge explain why this guy is larger and has such different coloration than all of the other fox squirrels in the area? He’s also got an extra furry butt. #squirrels
Our resident northern mockingbird learned a high pitched whine so that’s great and not annoying at all!
Thank you! I’m proud of this one.
I would give anything for someone to ask her what DNA stands for.
But their chicks are so cute 🥺
My first Steller’s jay in Cambria, CA. Big fan.
