6) WHEN APPROPRIATE, TO RAISE CONCERNS AND LEND OUR VOICE TO ISSUES THAT POTENTIALLY IMPACT THE LGBT+ COMMUNITY IN A NEGATIVE WAY."

And the declaration reaffirms the charity's commitment to working with other LGBTQIA+ organisations towards equality and inclusivity.
Hexham Pride's governing constitution already states:

"3) BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER CHARITIES, EVENT ORGANISERS, AND LGBT+ ARTISTS WHO SHARE OUR VALUES (AS HIGHLIGHTED IN OUR OBJECT) IN ORDER TO INCREASE WIDER CO-OPERATION AND COMMUNITY INCLUSION.
It was an honour to be attending on behalf of Hexham Pride as CEO. This evening Hexham Pride signed the Newcastle - Gateshead Declaration to work towards greater LGBTQIA+ unity across the globe and to commit to defending LGBTQIA+ human rights and equality.
A big shout out to Drew Dalton who got the ball rolling and to every single person who volunteered to make it happen and to all of the speakers; especially Peter Darrant who was an amazing compere.
The final day of the #SaferToBeMe conference today and it was as good if not better than yesterday. Absolutely well done to ReportOUT, Out North East & Pride Action North for putting on an incredible conference this week. It has been enlightening and a valuable experience.

SO, get with the times, don't be a fool, and respect people's preferred pronouns. It costs you nothing, and it means a lot to others when you show them respect.
Whether it is I, You, Me, Mine, They, Them, She, Her, He, Him, WE use pronouns all the time. There are over 100 pronouns in the English language alone:

Only a poorly educated fool would claim they are against pronouns.
There are more than 100 pronouns. Here's the full list…
A list of all pronouns, plus definitions for each type of pronoun.

Even the singular they/them.

"Someone left their coat in the library. I hope THEY realise and come back for it soon. I wouldn't want THEM to be inconvenienced."
15 October - International Pronouns Day

Everyone, in every language, uses pronouns. To say you are against pronouns is to say you are against language itself. We use them everyday without thinking about it.
SO, sort out your stompy boots and rainbow laces.
Find those pin badges, safety pins, and make those zines.
Hexham '26 is going Punk!
However, we have an incredible line-up planned and all the slots were booked within 2 hours of making the decision. It is still too early to release band names as a lot can happen between now and June, and we still need to raise funds. But we will release names next year.
The LGBTQIA+ community have had a strong presence in punk music for some time, with Queercore being a popular genre with the rise of bands such as the Lambrini Girls. We did ask the Lambrini Girls to play last year but sadly they never got back to us.
2025 saw us celebrate some of the LGBTQ+ community's talented folk singers and singer-song writers. It was an incredible weekend of music and we threw in a couple of curve balls to test Hexham's appetite with PJ Taylor (pop) and Gender Envy (punk)
If you have not already guessed from the subtle hints...
Hexham Pride 2026 will be the North East's first Queer Punk Pride.
11-18 October National Hate Crime Awareness Week

11 October is National Coming Out Day!

However, nobody should feel pressured into coming out today. Rather today is an opportunity for others to share their experiences and offer advice.
