A magnificent crack willow, found in boggy corner whilst hunting for glacial ponds in @herefordshirewt.bsky.social‬ Sturts reserve.

Name is not a drug reference (though willows are valued for their pain-relieving properties), but for its habit of splitting and developing deep cracks.
Do you want to do more for nature but unsure where to start? Maybe you just need some additional support or advice?

We want to hear your views to help us shape how we support and collaborate with communities over the next few years.

Small but enthusiastic turnout at Bartonsham Meadows yesterday. Highlight for me was the yellow form of Deuterosminthurus pallipes (a globular springtail) @herefordshirewt.bsky.social
A lovely morning spent carrying out riverfly monitoring by a cool, shady stream.
A great way to check on the health of a stream or river and be alerted to any pollution incidents.

Some paths will no longer be accessible but there will still be extensive access to the majority of the site. More at: www.herefordshirewt.org/news/restori...

A lovely nature reserve tucked away in the village of Llangrove - managed by a fantastic local team of dedicated volunteers! #ActionForNature #TeamWilder
Some highlights from Tretawdy Farm this morning: Ruby-tailed wasp, slow worm, small skipper & common spotted orchid. A very underrated HWT reserve: it’s messiness makes it excellent for invertebrates, reptiles and mammals. @herefordshirewt.bsky.social

Today I was fortunate to spot an early Purple Hairstreak Ledbury, Herefordshire whilst at a worksite. Possibly from one of the young Oak trees planted there. @savebutterflies.bsky.social @bc-westmids.bsky.social @herefordshirewt.bsky.social

Had some fantastic insect records on @herefordshirewt.bsky.social surveys in the Black Mountain fringes, all locally scarce: Dark green fritillary, small pearl-bordered fritillary, golden-ringed dragonfly and emperor moth @savebutterflies.bsky.social
Gorgeous photos steve!

Our seas need real protection ❌No more destructive fishing in Marine Protected Areas. ❌No more bottom trawling — a method that drags heavy nets and chains across the sea floor, destroying vital marine habitats. It's time to ban this destruction. 👉 wtru.st/save-our-seas
Ban Bottom Trawling in Marine Protected Areas
